Nigerian music sensation Tems has announced the launch of “Leading Vibes”, an initiative designed to support and empower women in the African music industry. The programme, set to debut in Lagos in August, will offer training, mentorship and access to music production technology in partnership with Native Instruments.
According to reports, the initiative aims to provide opportunities for women creators in music, with a focus on artists, songwriters and producers aged 18-35 based in Nigeria. Applications for the programme are currently open, with a deadline of 13 July.
Tems, who has joined Native Instruments’ artist board, expressed her vision for the initiative, stating that it seeks to equip the next generation of women in music with the knowledge and support needed to succeed.
The launch of “Leading Vibes” follows other initiatives aimed at promoting women in African music, including She Voice Africa and Sony Music West Africa’s “In Her Element” mentorship programme.
