Nigerian-American soprano Francesca Chiejina

Nigerian-American soprano Francesca Chiejina is a rising star in the opera world. A graduate of the Royal Opera House’s Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, she has won the 2023 UK Critics’ Circle Young Talent (Voice) Award.

Francesca’s recent performances include Jo Ann in “New Year” with Birmingham Opera Company, the title role in “Semele” with Blackheath Opera, High Priestess in “Aida” at Royal Opera House, and Lauretta in “Il Trittico” with Scottish Opera. She has also showcased her concert skills in Strauss Orchesterlieder with the Orchestra of Opera North and BBC Philharmonic, Berg’s Seven Early Songs with the Sinfonia of London and John Wilson at BBC Proms, and Mozart’s Requiem with Crouch End Festival Chorus.

Francesca has achieved notable competition successes, including being a finalist in the inaugural Glyndebourne Opera Cup in 2018 and a semi-finalist in the National Mozart Competition. She also won the GSMD English Song Prize and GSMD Aria Prize.

Looking ahead, Francesca will perform at the Viennese New Year with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on January 5, 2025, and in “Light of Passage” with The Royal Ballet on February 20, 2025. Her performances can be sampled in videos and audio recordings, including “June is Bustin’ Out All Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel. Francesca Chiejina is represented by Rayfield Allied worldwide.
