Makinde rejects Edo PDP guber screening chair

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, declined the role of chairman for the ward congress screening committee, stating in a letter to the party’s National Working Committee that he was informed too late for the February 3-4 schedule.

Makinde emphasized the need for transparent elections, expressing concern about the inclusion of government officials from Edo and Delta states in the list of electoral officers.

This sentiment was echoed by nine Edo governorship aspirants, including Philip Shaibu, who jointly signed a petition to the PDP National Working Committee, highlighting concerns about the list’s integrity. Notably, aspirant Asue Ighodalo, backed by Governor Godwin Obaseki, did not sign the petition.
