Just In- Hoodlums Clash With Lagos Traders, Set Market On Fire

A portion of Ilepo Market in Oke Odo, Lagos State, was engulfed in flames following a clash between hoodlums and traders over disputed betting winnings.

Witnesses reported that the conflict began on Wednesday evening and intensified the next day, prompting police intervention to restore order.

According to accounts, the dispute originated when a trader won ₦13,000 in a bet but received only ₦11,000, sparking tension over the withheld ₦2,000.

Exploiting the chaos, nearby hoodlums seized the opportunity to loot shops and set fire to property, resulting in substantial financial losses for the market community. Despite police efforts to quell the unrest, access to the market remains restricted.
