At SunTrust Bank Nigeria Limited, Halima serves as both the chief executive officer and managing director. She is an experienced banker who has worked for Allstates Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, Inland Bank Plc, Oceanic Bank Plc, and Ecobank Nigeria Limited for more than 22 years. She is among the few female MDs in the field to have reached that level of success.
Halima was a co-founder and former executive director of Taj Consortium, a group of young, energetic technocrats and financial advisory specialists, before being appointed MD/CEO of Sun Trust Bank Ltd.
She is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the NSIA Umuahia Diagnosis Center (NUDC) and a Non-Executive Director on the Board of several esteemed institutions, including Anchoria Asset Management Company Limited.
In addition, she served as a director on the board of Adamawa Homes and Savings Ltd. and a non-executive director on the board of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).
She graduated from the University of Maiduguri with an MBA and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in business management.
Halima is a graduate of the Senior Management Program at Lagos Business School. She holds honors as an Honorary Senior Member of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria (IoD), an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants.
Halima is a champion for women’s and youth’s empowerment and regularly donates to charities that support the education of girls.
