Court Sentences Bobrisky To Six Months Imprisonment Without Option Of Fine

Bobrisky, also known as Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, has been handed a six-month prison sentence without the option of a fine for abusing the Nigerian currency, the naira.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos, delivered the verdict, aiming to deter others from similar actions.

During the court proceedings, Bobrisky affirmed his gender as male and was subsequently directed to serve his sentence at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, starting from March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest.

Bobrisky’s conviction stemmed from charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for tampering with sums of money during social events, violating the Central Bank Act of 2007.

This marks a significant development in the legal saga surrounding the controversial personality.
