The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reportedly arrested a 29-year-old South African woman at the Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA) after allegedly discovering 32.74 kilogrammes of suspected drugs concealed in two bags.
According to a report shared by Africa View Facts on October 12, 2026, the suspect, identified as Gbashe Sihandiwe Jessie, was arrested at the airport on October 8, 2026. The substance was reportedly identified as Thai Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.
A photograph accompanying the report shows the woman holding an NDLEA identification board, with packages believed to contain the seized substance displayed in front of her.
The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by Nigerian drug enforcement authorities to prevent the trafficking of illicit substances through the country’s airports and other entry points.
Nigeria’s airports remain important checkpoints in the fight against drug trafficking, with the NDLEA responsible for intercepting illicit drugs and investigating suspected offenders.
Further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged trafficking, the intended destination of the substance and any formal charges against the suspect were not provided in the social media report.
The suspect’s arrest does not, in itself, establish guilt, and the allegations remain subject to the appropriate legal process.
