President Bola Tinubu has formally asked the Senate to approve the appointment of five individuals to serve as board members of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The President’s request, disclosed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday, aligns with the relevant provisions in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) establishment act of 2007.
Tinubu, in his letter, expressed his satisfaction in presenting the nominations of Robert O. Agbide, Ado Yakubu Wanga, Murtala Sagaley, Urom Eke, and Olayinka Aliyu for confirmation by the Senate.
Akpabio subsequently referred the request to the Committee on Banking, Finance, and other Financial Institutions, assigning them a one-week timeframe for further legislative consideration.
