Pop Star Justin Timberlake Charged with Drunken Driving in the Hamptons

— Pop star Justin Timberlake was charged early Tuesday with driving while intoxicated in New York’s Hamptons. Police reported that Timberlake ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane in the upscale seaside retreat.

Timberlake, 43, was driving a 2025 BMW in Sag Harbor around 12:30 a.m. when he was stopped by an officer who determined he was intoxicated. Court documents stated that Timberlake had bloodshot, glassy eyes, smelled of alcohol, had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on sobriety tests.

Timberlake admitted to having one martini and said he was following friends home. After his arrest, he refused a breath test at the East Hampton police station. The court papers listed his occupation as “professional” and noted that he’s “self-employed.”

The 10-time Grammy winner was arraigned in Sag Harbor and released without bond. He was charged with a misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated, with a court date set for July 26, according to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.

Celebrity brushes with the law in the Hamptons: Timberlake joins a list of celebrities, including Billy Joel and Martha Stewart, who have had legal issues in the Hamptons.

Edward Burke Jr., Timberlake’s local lawyer, confirmed the star doesn’t need to appear in person for his next court date. Timberlake’s representatives did not respond to requests for comment.

The arrest attracted onlookers to Sag Harbor’s Main Street, with many taking photos outside the municipal building. Even Billy Joel, a Sag Harbor resident, observed the scene but declined to comment on Timberlake’s arrest, quoting, “Judge not lest ye be judged.”

Timberlake began his career as a Disney Mouseketeer and rose to fame with NSYNC before launching a successful solo career. Known for hits like “Cry Me A River” and “SexyBack,” Timberlake has also garnered acclaim as an actor, starring in movies like “The Social Network” and “Friends With Benefits.” He has won four Primetime Emmy Awards.

Last year, Timberlake was in the spotlight when Britney Spears released her memoir, detailing their past relationship. Recently, he released a new album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” and has upcoming shows in Chicago and New York.
