New River State Speaker Victor Okoh Pledges Allegiance To Governor Fubara Amidst Assembly Leadership Shift

The newly appointed Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko, has affirmed his allegiance to Governor Sim Fubara, emphasizing collaboration between the assembly and the people of the state. Oko, addressing reporters in Port Harcourt after his inauguration, pledged transparency and inclusivity in the assembly’s operations, ensuring public engagement and communication of proceedings. He directed the assembly’s Clerk to inform the governor of the leadership change and expressed readiness to serve the people of Rivers State under his leadership. Oko, known for his loyalty to Fubara, assumed office after taking the oath as Speaker.

In a swift development, two assembly members elected Victor Jumbo as speaker, following Governor Fubara’s declaration that the majority of 27 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not exist.
