The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has granted MTN permission to partially disconnect Globacom from its network due to unpaid interconnect charges.
This decision, revealed in a document signed by Reuben Muoka, NCC Director of Public Affairs on Monday, follows Glo’s failure to settle outstanding debts despite numerous attempts at resolution.
In this partial disconnection, Globacom subscribers can only receive calls from MTN users, unable to initiate them.
Other network functionalities, including outgoing calls to other networks and data services, will continue for Globacom customers.
The NCC statement indicates that after 10 days from January 8, 2024, Globacom subscribers won’t be able to make calls to MTN but can still receive them.
The partial disconnection, however, allows inbound calls to the Globacom network.
