The Lagos State House of Assembly has taken steps to tighten security at its complex, following the recent impeachment of its speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
To ensure a safe and secure environment, staff members and legislative aides are now required to present valid identity cards to access the premises. This new directive is aimed at maintaining order and preventing any potential disruptions.
The Lagos State Police Command has also assured the assembly of its support in maintaining law and order in the state.
The controversy surrounding Obasa’s impeachment has been ongoing, with the former speaker insisting that he remains in office until due process is followed. However, the assembly has already appointed a new speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
Despite the tensions, the assembly is set to hold a plenary session, its third since Obasa’s removal.
