Juventus Makes History with Signing of Nigerian Forward Jennifer Echegini
Juventus has made a groundbreaking signing by acquiring Nigerian forward Jennifer Echegini, according to a statement on the club’s official website.
This move marks the first time a Super Falcons star has joined the prestigious Italian club.
Echegini, born in England in 2001, has established herself as an exceptional midfielder and is the newest addition to Joe Montemurro’s Juventus Women’s team.
She has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract that will keep her at the club until June 30, 2026, and she will wear the coveted number 26 shirt.
Having played for the Florida State Seminoles in the United States, Echegini brings an impressive track record to Juventus. She was a key player for her team over the past two years and has achieved notable statistics and awards. Most recently, Echegini was a finalist for the MAC Hermann, the highest honor in US university football.
Additionally, she received the Honda Sport Award for women’s football in December.
Her outstanding performances also earned her titles such as ACC Tournament MVP, “ACC Offensive Player of the Year,” and a spot on the “United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American.”
In 2023, Echegini concluded the year with an impressive tally of 16 goals, ranking as the eighth-best result in her university’s history. Notably, she became the first player from the Florida State Seminoles to achieve double figures in goals for multiple seasons since Deyna Castellanos, who now plays for Manchester City wearing the number 10 jersey.
Echegini was also a member of the Super Falcons squad that participated in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria reached the knockout rounds without losing a game in regulation time, highlighting Echegini’s contribution to the team’s success.
