Just In: Bobrisky Convicted, To Be Sentenced April 9

The Federal High Court in Lagos has scheduled the sentencing of Bobrisky, also known as Idris Okuneye, for April 9, 2024, following his guilty plea to charges of naira abuse. Judge Abimbola Awogboro directed Bobrisky to uncover his face during the court proceedings, which led to his remand in EFCC custody until sentencing.

During the hearing, two counts of alleged money laundering were struck out upon agreement between the prosecution and defense, leaving four charges against Bobrisky. Despite admitting guilt, Bobrisky pleaded for leniency, expressing remorse and claiming ignorance of the law. His lawyer emphasized his client’s efforts to reform and requested a non-custodial sentence with the option of a fine.

The case, marked FHC/L/244c/2024, revolves around videos showing Bobrisky spraying money at various events, leading to his arrest and subsequent plea of guilty to the charges brought by the EFCC.
