French Rail System Sabotage Shortly Ahead Olympics

France’s high-speed rail system experienced significant disruption on Friday due to several acts of “criminal” vandalism. This caused travel interruptions as thousands of people traveled to Paris for the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics, scheduled for later that day. No injuries were reported.

Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced on social media that “acts of sabotage were carried out in a prepared and coordinated manner” across the rail network.
