Nigeria’s long wait for a medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics finally ended with Ese Brume winning the Bronze in the Women’s Long Jump event, with a leap of 6.97m.
Brittney Rees of the United States, who also had a jump of 6.97m picked the silver medal ahead of Brume with the countback rule.
World champion Malaika Mihambo won gold with her very last jump of 7.00m.
This is Nigeria’s first medal in athletics at the Olympic Games in 13 years
