Edo Assembly Suspends Lawmakers Amidst Impeachment Allegations

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has suspended three lawmakers over allegations of an impeachment plot against him and other Principal Officers Council (POC) members. The suspended lawmakers include Donald Okogbe, Bright Iyamu, and Adeh Isibor.

Agbebaku claimed that the suspended members were backed by external forces aiming to disrupt the house’s leadership. He also accused individuals of bringing native doctors into the assembly complex to perform rituals.

During the session, the suspended lawmakers protested the unilateral suspension, demanding a vote on the matter. The incident adds to the political tensions in Edo State.
