The National Assembly has reopened the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
The office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was unsealed on Tuesday morning by the Sergeant-at-Arms with the help of security personnel. It had remained locked since March 6, 2025, when the lawmaker was suspended.
In a video shared on Tuesday, Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, was seen removing the red seal from the door and announcing that the office was officially open.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months in March after protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The Senate also barred her from taking part in legislative activities during the suspension period.
Although her suspension ended in September, her return was delayed due to legal disputes and opposition from Senate leaders. In July, the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that the suspension was excessive and unconstitutional, but the Senate had rejected her earlier request to resume.
It is still uncertain whether the unsealing of the office will allow her full access to the National Assembly or if she will resume duties when plenary sessions continue on October 7.
