The event was sponsored by the Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation, with co-sponsorship from Oxfam in Nigeria. In his speech, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, Hon. Tease Uboh, emphasized that Nigeria must embrace climate adaptation to address issues such as migration and gully erosion.

Fireside chats included notable figures such as Hon. Mohammed A. Omadutu, Chairman of the Nasarawa State House Committee on Environment and Climate, and Hon. Johanna Sahabo, Chairman of the Adamawa State House Committee on Environment. Both representatives recently passed climate change bills in their respective state assemblies.

Malam Lare Isah Adebo, Director of the National Orientation Agency, represented by Segun Alabi, expressed the agency’s commitment to partnering with organizations willing to address climate issues.

Daniel Oladije noted that Nigeria is among the countries where people are least concerned about climate change, urging the production of climate-related stories in local dialects to enhance public understanding.

The Climate Caravan will continue its journey to other states, aiming to educate and engage Africans on the urgent dangers of climate change.
