It was an unforgettable evening of culture, reflection, and cinematic pride as friends, colleagues, and admirers gathered at the Alliance Française in Ikoyi, Lagos, for the official launch of A Trip in Motion, a biography chronicling the extraordinary life and career of renowned Nigerian filmmaker Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, popularly known as D’Guv.
Authored by Godson Osarenren, the book offers an insightful journey into Imasuen’s creative evolution, contributions to Nollywood, and the personal experiences that have shaped his artistic vision. The launch event drew an impressive crowd of industry stakeholders, actors, directors, and supporters of Nigerian cinema, all united in celebrating one of Nollywood’s most influential voices.
The atmosphere was vibrant and warm, with heartfelt tributes flowing throughout the ceremony. Speakers commended Imasuen not only for his expansive body of work but also for his mentorship and commitment to nurturing emerging talent in the film industry.

A highlight of the evening was a special goodwill message delivered on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hanatu Musawa. Her message underscored the importance of documenting the journeys of cultural icons and praised the biography for capturing the essence of Imasuen’s legacy.
The night also featured award presentations and expressions of gratitude from industry colleagues who described Imasuen as a visionary, a trailblazer, and a pillar of Nollywood’s growth.
‘A Trip in Motion’ stands not just as a book but as a tribute to resilience, artistic passion, and the power of storytelling. For attendees, it was more than a launch — it was a celebration of a life in motion and a reminder of Nollywood’s ever-evolving narrative.
