The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the party intensifies efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the inauguration in Abuja, the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, said the party was offering Nigerians an opportunity to build a country where essential services are affordable and accessible.
Atiku said the ADC was positioning itself as an alternative for Nigerians through policies aimed at addressing the country’s economic and governance challenges.
The inauguration brought together the party’s national leadership and other stakeholders to formalise its campaign structure and prepare for the 2027 presidential contest.
The ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, addressed the gathering, marking a significant step in the party’s preparations for the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking, the Director-General and Campaign Manager of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Austin Akobundu, said the party had a responsibility to save Nigeria.
As part of the campaign structure, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam was named Chairman of the National Campaign Council, while former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was appointed Deputy Chairman.
The council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign activities, mobilise supporters nationwide and communicate its policy proposals to the electorate.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, the ADC faces the task of strengthening its grassroots presence, building a formidable nationwide campaign network and presenting credible solutions to Nigeria’s pressing challenges, including economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and the rising cost of living.
The inauguration signals the party’s renewed push to position itself as a major contender in the 2027 presidential election.
