Nollywood film Ikenga: The Last Festival has crossed the ₦75 million mark at the Nigerian box office, becoming the highest-grossing Igbo-language film of all time.
The milestone was announced by FilmOne Entertainment, the film’s distributor, which said the movie has also remained the highest-grossing Nollywood film for three consecutive weeks.
Since its nationwide cinema release on August 21, 2026, Ikenga: The Last Festival has continued to attract audiences and record strong box-office figures.
FilmOne celebrated the achievement in a post on X, describing the film’s performance as a result of strong audience support and growing interest in the production.
The film had already made history during its opening weekend, earning ₦22 million within its first three days in cinemas. FilmOne described the figure as the highest-grossing opening weekend recorded by an Igbo film in West Africa.
Directed by Darlington Kelechi, Ikenga: The Last Festival features veteran Nigerian actors including Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Kanayo O. Kanayo and Patience Ozokwo, alongside Zubby Michael, Beverly Osu, Jide Kene Achufusi, Regina Daniels and Destiny Etiko.
The film’s success comes amid a broader recovery in Nigeria’s cinema industry. Box-office revenue reportedly increased from ₦7.36 billion in 2023 to ₦15.64 billion in 2025, with the market projected to surpass ₦20 billion in 2026.
The performance of Ikenga further highlights the growing commercial potential of indigenous-language films and the continued appetite for locally produced stories in Nigerian cinemas. ([Nairametrics][1])
