The inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president of Nigeria marks the commencement of former Senator, Governor of Lagos State and Tinubu”s term as president and Kashim Shettima’s term as vice president.

Ending the fuel subsidy, this challenge has been pushed aside by successive governments since its introduction in the 1970s.
With three unproductive refineries, Nigeria is unable to refine enough crude to meet local demands so it imports petroleum products, which are then sold at a government-set price. This has led to massive corruption of subsidy. Two major opposition parties, PDP and Labour Party are challenging the election results before the presidential electoral tribunal, who have 180 days to conclude the case.
An appeal before the Supreme Court has an additional 60 days to make a pronouncement if any of the parties proceed to the Supreme Court.
