Sport Ex-Super Eagles Goalkeeper Peter Rufai Passes Away at 61

In a sad turn of events, former Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness. He was 61 years old.

‎Rufai, who was widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers Nigeria has produced, played in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain during his two-decade-long playing career. He also represented Nigeria at two World Cups and as many Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

‎Rufai’s death comes on the same day the world of football is mourning Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash in Spain earlier in the day, alongside his brother.

‎This has undoubtedly been a difficult week for the football community, with the loss of two talented players. Rufai will be remembered for his skills on the field and his contributions to the sport of football in Nigeria.
