Mikel Merino’s goal gives Spain a 2-1 victory over hosts Germany in Extra Time of the quarterfinal of Euro 2024 at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart on Friday.
After an absorbing first half, Dani Olmo for Spain opened the scoring after half-time. Wirtz for Germany late in the second half equalized and brought back the game to level terms.
With the win, Spain remains unbeaten in the tournament in five games and qualifies for the semifinals of the tournament where they will face France.
