Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has expressed her delight in scoring crucial goals that led to Al-Ittihad Women’s resounding victory over city rivals Al-Ahly, Plumptre’s outstanding performance included three remarkable goals, contributing to Al-Ittihad Women’s impressive 6-2 win in the Saudi Arabian Women’s League.
Al-Ittihad took the lead in the tenth minute with a fine header from Mustapha Nor, followed by Plumptre’s right-footed drive that doubled the home team’s advantage. Nor extended the lead further, and in the 40th minute, Plumptre showcased her skills by scoring a Goal-of-the-Season contender with her left foot, placing the ball into the top corner.
In the closing moments of the first half, Plumptre completed her hat-trick with a perfectly timed run and a left-footed finish from a lofted free-kick. This marks her second hat-trick since joining Al-Ittihad Women in Saudi Arabia, having previously scored three goals on Matchday one of the league against Eastern Flames in October.
Expressing her joy for achieving another hat-trick and sharing her positive experience in Saudi Arabia so far, the versatile defender took to X (formerly Twitter) to convey her sentiments.
