Flutterwave co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Olugbenga Agboola, has been appointed a National Youth Ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force under its National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative.
Agboola announced the appointment following a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, describing the engagement as an honour and an opportunity to contribute to youth development and national security.
In his announcement, Agboola emphasised the potential of Nigeria’s young people, noting that the country and the wider African continent have no shortage of talent or entrepreneurial ambition.
According to him, one of the major challenges facing young entrepreneurs is not a lack of ideas, but limited access to the structures and resources required to turn those ideas into sustainable, globally competitive institutions.
He identified access to the right tools, networks and support systems as critical to helping young entrepreneurs move from promising ideas to businesses capable of creating lasting economic impact.
Agboola also called for stronger collaboration between public institutions, private industry and the technology ecosystem to close this gap.
“Building financial infrastructure across Africa has proven one thing: the talent is undeniable, and the ambition is unmatched,” he said.
The new National Youth Ambassador said he was committed to using his experience and voice to support initiatives that give young Nigerians a stronger foundation to build, scale and contribute to national development.
The appointment comes at a time when youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and national security remain closely connected. With Nigeria’s large young population increasingly involved in technology, business and innovation, greater cooperation between government and the private sector could play an important role in creating opportunities while strengthening social stability.
Agboola’s appointment therefore places him in a position to contribute to conversations around youth empowerment, peacebuilding and the role of young Nigerians in national development.
The initiative is expected to provide a platform for stronger engagement between young people and institutions working to promote security, peace and economic empowerment.
