NAFDAC SHUTS ILLEGAL COSMETICS FACTORY IN LAGOS
The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down an illicit cosmetics factory operating at the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State. The agency announced the raid on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday.
During the operation, NAFDAC officers discovered various unregistered chemicals, packaging materials, and expired products being repackaged for sale. The seizure resulted in the confiscation of over 1,200 cartons of counterfeit cosmetic products, along with mini-mixing containers, unlabeled chemicals, batch coding materials, and thinners. These items have been taken to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.
The estimated street value of the seized items is approximately N50 million. This crackdown serves as a warning to individuals involved in illicit manufacturing and distribution of cosmetics.
NAFDAC’s Warning to the Public
The agency urges citizens to exercise caution when purchasing cosmetic products and to report any suspicious activities to their nearest office.
By taking down this illegal factory, NAFDAC demonstrates its commitment to protecting public health and safety. The agency’s vigilance is crucial in preventing the circulation of harmful and counterfeit products.
