Civil servants across the country have resumed official duties following the Christmas holidays declared by the Federal Government.
At the National Secretariat in Abuja, activities gradually picked up as workers returned to their offices after spending the festive period with family and loved ones. Many arrived early, signed attendance registers, and settled into their various duties, although some ministries and departments experienced slower activity in the early hours of the day.
While several offices recorded near-full attendance, others reported lower turnout. Some workers attributed this to post-holiday fatigue and travel delays, noting that not all staff members had yet returned from their hometowns.
Despite the slow pace in certain offices, essential services and routine administrative duties were carried out, signaling a steady return to full government operations.
Speaking to Nigeria Magazine correspondent, Ubong Usoro, civil servant Ismail Badamasi expressed appreciation for the holiday, describing it as a much-needed opportunity to rest and reconnect with family. He added that it was now time for workers to resume their official responsibilities.
Okon Offiong, another civil servant, said some staff members were still traveling and would likely resume duties in early January 2026.
Philo Adeowo added that while attendance was improving, offices would take a few more days to return to full operational capacity.
Overall, work has officially resumed at the National Secretariat, with expectations that full activities will pick up in the coming days as all civil servants return from the holiday break.
