Nigeria’s Path to Greatness: Tackling Challenges, Harnessing Opportunities and Becoming The Leader Africa Needs

By Benjamin Ogbebor

As the most populous black nation in the world, Nigeria bears a tremendous responsibility within the African continent and the global community. It is imperative that Nigeria recognises its potential and acts with the seriousness it deserves.

The rampant banditry, internal chaos, and economic instability within its borders should be met with zero tolerance, as these issues threaten not only national stability but also the image of Nigeria as a leader on the continent.

Nigeria must address its security challenges decisively, particularly skirmishes and militancy along its international borders, which pose a direct threat to regional stability. A robust national security strategy must be implemented to safeguard the integrity of its territory and foster peace within neighboring countries.

Furthermore, Nigeria must invest in its human capital—education, healthcare, and technological advancement—to unlock the full potential of its youthful population. Harnessing this demographic dividend is essential for sustainable development and economic growth. Adequate infrastructure, transparent governance, and anti-corruption measures are key pillars needed to propel Nigeria forward.

Nigeria must also play its rightful role as the Big Brother of Africa: providing leadership, supporting regional integration, and championing initiatives that promote stability, democracy, and economic cooperation across the continent. Its influence extends beyond Africa; Nigeria should aspire to be a global voice that advocates for justice, development, and African sovereignty.
