Nigerian culture, music and creativity will take centre stage in London on Thursday, October 1, as Culture Fest brings together members of the Nigerian diaspora and lovers of African culture to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day.
Organised by SMADE, the event will take place at 229 London on Great Portland Street, with activities scheduled from 6pm to midnight, followed by an afterparty running until 2am.
Described as more than a party, Culture Fest is designed as a celebration of Nigerian culture, music, creativity and community, while highlighting the connections between Africa and its diaspora.
The event will feature a lineup of live artists, DJs, dancers and performers. Among the newly announced additions is Spaceship Billy, Burna Boy’s official DJ.
The celebration will also include games and a live Fuji band in a second room, offering an additional experience for guests and VIP attendees.
Food will form part of the festivities, with Tasty African Food providing finger foods and small chops for guests during the first two hours of the event.
Organisers are also encouraging attendees to embrace Nigerian fashion by coming dressed in traditional or Owambe-inspired outfits, or incorporating elements of Nigerian culture into their attire.
For SMADE founder Dr. Adesegun Adeosun Jr, popularly known as King SMADE, the event reflects the organisation’s broader effort to create spaces where Africa and its diaspora can connect, celebrate their heritage and create opportunities through culture.
With Nigerian flags, music, fashion, food and entertainment expected to fill the venue, Culture Fest will provide members of the Nigerian community in London with an opportunity to mark Independence Day while celebrating the richness and global influence of Nigerian culture.
Culture Fest will hold on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 229 London, Great Portland Street. The main event is scheduled for 6pm to midnight, with the afterparty continuing until 2am.
