Dangote Refinery has launched its second free fuel delivery rollout in two months, expanding coverage from 6 to 10 states as it pushes to reshape Nigeria’s downstream market. Buyers of a minimum 250,000 litres at ₦1,165/litre ($0.73) now get free delivery plus a 10-day credit term. The scheme now covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Abuja, Delta, Kano, Imo, Anambra and Nasarawa. The July rollout covered 6 states at a lower price of ₦1,075/litre ($0.67).
By absorbing delivery costs of ₦15–₦40 per litre, Dangote aims to remove what insiders call “the silent tax” on fuel distribution. The 10-day credit also eases working-capital pressure for marketers. The 250,000L minimum still favors bigger buyers, but the move signals Dangote’s intent to compete directly with marketers’ logistics arms. The 650,000-bpd refinery is consolidating control over Nigeria’s fuel supply chain.
