Staying positive and focused during changes in your personal and professional life

 

Because change is an inevitable part of life, be it in your family or private life or for progression of your career or development of your business, it is essential that we surround ourselves with positive and uplifting messages. Being in a positive and uplifting environment with people who see challenges as opportunities for progress and further development rather than the pessimism of failure is what separates those who succeed in life from those who remain life’s moaners and whingers.

For many, however, the question is how to find time to meet with positive people and how to stay motivated. In today’s fast paced society with enormous possibilities created through technology people who can inspire you can be just an email message or telephone call away. However, for longer term success what is required goes beyond inspiration, what is needed are the facilities for regular reflection and review of your goals and setting clear timelines for achieving them through support that will empower you for the longer term.

 

The challenge faced by some people is finding the courage to take that first step to decide to step out of their comfort zone and seek to be the change they want to see in their own lives, in their families, in their job or in their own business. Such people find that it’s the first step that’s most difficult! Remember, however, that the longest journey begins with the first step. Knowing that you want to make changes to make you more successful or feel true to yourself, to be the authentic you can be your first step in that journey. It therefore becomes your responsibility to make that choice, to choose to take action to change your situation from mere acceptance to resounding confidence and achievement. As the popular saying goes ‘Not to know is bad, not to wish to know is worse’. 

In the pursuit of a happier and more fulfilling personal and professional life you cannot hope that others will take responsibility for your success or leave it to chance and one’s faith in destiny.

You owe it to yourself to be involved in the decision making on how to manage the changes required for success in your personal lives and careers, be it in a large organisation or small business.

Seeking to empower yourself to be resilient and innovative in your personal or professional life a recipe for success. Empowerment will enable you to focus on achieving your goals in a shorter time-frame, with fewer pitfalls and win the admiration of family, friends and colleagues, although your detractors may not all disappear. Your journey of change to a more fulfilled, successful and confident you is not one that you should be left to chance or to undertake alone. What you should consider as part of your ongoing personal development is investing in gaining invaluable access to positive and uplifting champions. These can include trained and experienced coaches, mentors or personal advisers. People who can work with you, be objective in their feedback and challenge you in your thinking and help you be more strategic and innovative in your planning and actions to achieve your goals.

The inevitability of change and ever increasing pace at which it takes place in our 21st century world require us to develop skills for empowerment so we can handle change effectively. This does not mean change will be ‘pain free’. The heat of pain can trigger new gems and pressure can convert the undervalued resource to a priceless one.

Emerging from any change journey to be your authenti9c self and to do so with a soaring level of self-confidence can lead to invaluable new insights and opportunities. Change is a journey with several destinations and through having focus and clarity along the journey to achieve new goals can help us convert the stumbling blocks of negativity and small mindedness into the stepping stones of opportunity for our families and communities and in the process realise our own greatness.
