Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
yesterday arrested Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr.
Adeyemi Sabitun Ikuforiji. Ikuforiji was picked up in Abuja and taken to the
headquarters of the EFCC, where he’s being interrogated.

Sources at the EFCC revealed that the Lagos Speaker was arrested in
connection with a petition accusing him of financial wrongdoings.

In the petition, it was gathered, the Speaker was accused of collecting a
whopping N500 million every month as running cost, which is, in turn,
diverted. He was said to have collected the amount in the last 12 months,
totalling about N7 billion.

The petition alleged that the office of the Speaker has been collecting funds for
staff training, which nobody benefited from.

EFCC head, media & publicity, Mr. Femi Babafemi confirmed Ikuforiji’s
arrest. He was said to have been evading arrest for some time now.

Sources at the EFCC revealed that the Lagos Speaker was arrested in
connection with a petition by a group Kick Against Corruption, accusing him
