Jumia Technologies Listed in the New York Exchange for $2.4B

Jumia Technologies, the leading pan-African ecommerce platform recently listed in the New York Exchange for about S2.4B.

The 100% African, 100% internet platform builds, connects & brings African consumer goods & services to all. 

Jumia operates in 14 countries with platforms are in Nigeria, Egypt & Morocco; 1.2B consumers; 24M SMEs; 81K active sellers; & 29M products such as hotels, restaurants etc

Jumia is listed as incorporated in Berlin, with admin HQ in Dubai & global Tech centre in Portugal. Shareholders include MTN & Mastercard. 

Jumia started in Lagos by two African co-founders, Tunde Kehinde & Raphael Afardor. The Founders left the group in late 2013 & were replaced by Co-CEOs, Nicolas Martins & Jeremy Doutte. Sacha Poignonnec & Jeremy Hodara are listed as Co-Founders.

NBA champion, Andre Iguodala, recently joined Jumia’s Board of Directors as an ambassador charged with promoting business development & tech in Africa. He said, “Because of my Nigerian heritage, I’m thrilled to be a part of this unique enterprise…shaping the future of digital Africa.”

African e-commerce is a viable & attractive business. Jumia’s listing & expansion will help accelerate ecommerce growth in Africa.
