FG commends Dangote on employment generation

President Goodluck Jonathan has commended the employment generation drive of Dangote
Group, led by its president, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who also doubles as the chairman of the
Federal Government Job Creation committee.

Dangote Group, according to sources, has over 25,000 employees, both in direct and indirect
cadre, in its many companies which cut across, oil and gas, manufacturing, steel, food
production and many others.

Jonathan said with the practical experience of the job creation committee chairman, in job
creation, he was sure that the recommendations of the committee which the government
would adopt and enforce would create many jobs in the country.

The Minister of Finance, Mr Olusegun Aganga, also commended Dangote for making
Nigeria his priority in his investments and praised the job creation committee for coming out
with pragmatic approach to solving the unemployment problem.

Aganga said Dangote had done so well by employing thousands of Nigerians in his many
companies and giving hope to the hopeless, as well as showing good example of how a
private sector could work with the government in creating jobs and making life meaningful
for thousands of people, especially with his placement of funds with the Bank of Industry
(BOI).

“One notable example is the N10 billion Joint Venture between the Bank of Industry and
the Dangote Foundation, where a BOI loan is matched with a Foundation grant to provide
five per cent interest loans to micro small and medium enterprises and small industries,” Mr
Aganga said.

While the Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, urged the
private sector to work with the government in achieving the target of drastically reducing
unemployment rate in the country, Dangote said that inconsistency in government policies in
the past, was a major cause of unemployment in the country
