ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP TOP TRANSFERS 2013

Hello. Welcome to a pulsating and exciting 2013. We have some tasty ties for the last 16 of the champions league with the finals at Wembley stadium in England. Our focus is on the transfer market and the impact these players will have at their respective clubs in the English Premier League.

Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea to Liverpool)

I like Daniel Sturridge. The transfer fee is reported at £12 million. He is an England international, hungry and quick. He has already started repaying back the faith placed in him by Brendan Rodgers with some goals. I see him linking up well with Luis Suarez.

Demba Ba (Newcastle to Chelsea)

It seems it is all about the strikers. Demba Ba was Newcastle’s top striker with 13 goals before his transfer to Chelsea. His transfer fee is in the region of £7 million. I see him as a better player than Torres (£50 million transfer fee). He made a lively debut for Chelsea coming on to replace Torres. Anyone is currently better than Torres, even a blind man with no legs! He is a goal getter and undoubtedly will score goals for Chelsea. I just hope Benitez’s negative tactics do not affect his style of play.

Loic Remy (Marseille to QPR)

Cynics say Loic is in it for the money. He has a 4 1/2 year deal and was signed for a £8 million fee which dwarfs the previous club record of £4 million paid for Djibril Cisse. He has a relegation clause in his contract if QPR don’t stay up. There was interest from Newcastle but he was a naughty boy and went to QPR when he was expected at Newcastle. These players eh! He is a French international with 17 caps for France and 4 goals. He has 3 goals in 19 appearances for Marseille up till the winter break. I am not sure how much of an impact he can have at Loftus road in 4 months. He needs a full season to adapt to the pace of the premier league. Very few players do well during January transfer window.

Joe Cole (Liverpool to westham)

Joe Cole started out with the ‘hammers’ before moving on to Chelsea and Liverpool. He moved to the hammers on a free transfer. He is an ex England international who has played at 2 world cups and he was ‘unplayable’ at a point. He has suffered a dip in form based on injuries and loss of confidence. Part of the problem is managers don’t seem to know the best position to play him in. He has already had an impact at westham with several assists.

Marouane Chamakh (Arsenal to westham)

Marouane has gone to westham on loan and has been deemed to be surplus to requirements at arsenal. I am not a fan of his and feel that the physical nature of the premier league does not suit his style and physique. He has a poor goal to games ratio at arsenal.

This is not a transfer but wishful thinking

Pep Guardiola (possible destination: Man city, Man u or Chelsea?)

He has won everything (club world championship, La Liga, UEFA champions league). He has also indicated his interest to manage in England. A lot of clubs will be queuing for his services. I have only mentioned the clubs who can realistically afford him. Bentleys don’t come cheap!

Jose Mourinho (possible destination: Man city, Man u or Chelsea?)

Ah. The ‘special one’. We would all love to see him back. Love him or loathe him the premier league misses his eccentric personality. I like him because he backs up his words with actions. He has won the league every where he has been (EPL, Serie A, La liga, Primeira League) and also the champions league on more than one occasion with Porto and Inter Milan. He is a great coach as he gets the best out of his players.

We could possibly see both Mourinho and Pep Guardiola renewing their rivalry in the English premiership for the 2013-2014 season.
