ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE ANALYSIS 2012-2013

Welcome to an interesting English premier League season promised to be filled with more twists and turns than a formulae one race track! Most teams have made useful acquisitions and the focus is going to be on the teams that are going to finish in the top part of the league table.

Manchester City: Considered ‘nosy neighbours’ by Alex Ferguson. Well he has been forced to eat humble pie as they won the league title and look set to retain their title. Their confidence is up and they have a very useful signing in Jack Rodwell. With their riches it is surprising to see Mancini has not signed any more players. They have released Wayne Bridge and Owen Heargreaves. Prediction 1st.

Manchester United: They have to be commended for always being in the running. Their new signings have settled well with the current team notably Robin Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa. They released Park Ji sung, Michael Owen and Tomasz Kuzack. They are going to be in the business end of the league come the end of the season. Predicted to finish second again behind Man city.

Chelsea: They had a great season winning the champions league. Most of their stars have departed (Anelka, Drogba, Lukaku, Solomon Kalou, Jose Bosingwa etc). They have had a complete clear out. They have some interesting signings. Eden Hazard is going to be a key player for them. I am not too sure about Oscar who was with the Brazilian squad at the Olympics or Marko Marin. Prediction 3rd.

Spurs: Did not have the best of seasons. One of their key players Luka Modric was sold to Real Madrid. Spurs did some major spring cleaning releasing Ledley King, Nico Kranjcar, Verdran Corluka, Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen. I am not a big fan of AVB (Andres Vila Boas). It is left to be seen if he has a strong enough personality to manage the dressing room. This resulted in his exit from Chelsea. Mousa Dembele signed for Spurs from Fulham. They also signed Jan Vartonghen from Ajax and Gylfi Siggurdson from Hoffenheim. Prediction 7th.

Arsenal: To say they did not have the best of seasons is an understatement. They signed Lukas Podolski,  Santi Cazoria and Olivier Giroud. Arsene Wenger does not get a lot of funds from the Board and RVP (Robin Van Persie) signing for Man Utd is baffling. Why would you sell to your rival? They need a proven goal scorer. Prediction 4th

Liverpool: Didn’t have the best of seasons. The Brazilian Lucas was back from injury. However he reinjured himself against Man. City and if he is fit can help them to some success. They also lost key players notably Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy. They only brought in Fabrio Borrini and Joe Allen. Prediction 5th

Newcastle: Newcastle had a fantastic season. They punched above their weight last season. It would be a tough ask to ask them to repeat the same form this year. They lost several players notably Peter Lovenkrands, Dannie Guthrie and Leon Best. Vurnon Anita and Curtis Good d not exactly set the pulses racing as new signings. With Demba Ba and Cisse firing in the goals then who knows? Prediction 6th  There you have it. I hope you all enjoy what is going to be a fun filled, nail biting and interesting season!
