Air passengers to Benin Airport in Edo State, may have to seek alternative route as indications
emerged that the airport would be closed for commercial flight activities from June 20 to July 17,
Benin Airport, one of the oldest in Nigeria, according to an official who craved anonymity, was
scheduled to be closed to enable the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) carry out a
Turn Around Maintenance (TAM).
The TAM will mostly be for the rehabilitation of the runway to ease flight landing and take-off.
Flight activities would now be shifted to Warri or Asaba Airport pending when repairs are fully
According to the Airport Manager, Ayodele Sunday, he was yet to be briefed and therefore
unable to speak about it.
